Judo
Torbay offers over 35 years of involvement with International, National & Regional Judo & Aikido events.
Recent competitions hosted include the annual Peninsular Cup, a 2 star event involving 150 competitors. Home legs of the Devon League are hosted monthly throughout the year involving 4 teams of 7 players. Association Grading Competitions are held at local venues with up to 50 competitors.
The Shinji Tai Aikido Society Annual Seminar has been hosted locally each year since 2003 by the Shinji Budo Kai Committee, welcoming up to 80 visitors on each occasion.
South Devon College
An ideal training venue for Judo. The main hall has a floor area of 736 square metres, and overall dimensions of 20 metres by 32 metres.
The floor is of a wooden sprung construction and would fit two full practice mats including the 3-metre safety area.
Fitness suite
South Devon College’s fitness suite offers access to the latest cardio-vascular/respiratory equipment, a range of resistance machines and free weights.
Fitness Assessment room
There is a separate room off the fitness suite that has software and equipment for assessing and calculating fitness, including:
• Lung Function
• Body Composition BMR
• V02
• Flexibility
• Grip strength, etc.
This room would also be ideal for doping control.
